New River Head

(2021)

This series of drawings was created during the residency at New River Head in autumn 2021. It explored the derelict waterworks, capturing its silent spaces and abandoned machinery. Once a quiet, green area 500 years ago—home to ducks and grazing cows—New River Head is now part of Islington, one of London’s most densely populated boroughs. The drawings juxtapose the site's forgotten past with its present state of abandonment, reflecting on the transformation of this once rural corner of London into a part of the urban sprawl, while maintaining a sense of its historical roots.
